Digital Terrestrial Television
One of the newest disciplines that have been
currently introduced into the television
transmission media is the Digital
Terrestrial Television (DTT or
DTTV), the application of this new technology offers
many advantages and possibilities in
comparison with the standard signal, for
example: better image quality (high
definition) and a greater sound quality,
using systems such as the aC3. |

but, what is Digital Terrestrial Television? It is a new
technology based in the sending of data through packages, these
are sent through broadcasters located on earth, but instead of
sending electrical waves that are susceptible to many
distortions which complicate the transmission, the sending of
binary data is used, meaning: only some zeros and ones are sent;
this is a great advantage, because the signal is much more
impervious to any interference that might come, especially in
urban areas. after receiving the signal, our decoder only has to
transform it into an analog signal, which is why we always
receive such a clear image and sound quality.

This kind of system makes that the storage of
data or sound in a broadband to be greater, which makes it
possible the remittance of more than one audio file for the same
video or various subtitles to choose from. This was not possible
with the analog system, because only one piece of data
occupied a huge space in the broadband. |

One possible application of this advantage could
be the electronic guide of programs that interprets the
information of several broadcasters� programs and shows them to
the users, giving them the chance of programming the recording
of shows, see their descriptions and choose a daily routine to
zap. |

Nowadays it is possible to enjoy from this signal,
because there are several
television networks that are emitting the
digital signal, however, due to the fact that
there is very few publicity about this new discipline
and the governments are not promoting the digital
signal that much, many of these networks rather
retransmit the same programs been broadcasted through
the analog signal, and others are limiting themselves
to transmit videos, or are simply waiting for the
promotion of this type of services.

you do not; you only need a decoder, which is similar
to a small rectangular box, which is in charge of
changing the signal to an analogue one, so your

To sum up, Digital Terrestrial Television is the future, because
the analog signal will be removed, and it will be the only
free television in a few years from now; however, the viewer is
still insecure or is just not attracted by this new technology,
this is mainly because of the limited amount of networks that
are offering the digital signal, and also because very few
companies are willing to create new networks without the
security of having viewers; let�s just hope that the governments
and the television networks start advertising more this service.
