basic Repair for
USb flash drive,
SD,
MMC and memory stick
It is common for our portable
storage
devices to become damaged or to fail when we
least expect them to. These kits (USb,
Pen
drivers,
Secure Digital,
Memory Stick,
players,
MMC, etc.) may vary according to
their price, their quality, their design and
their storage level. |
|
|
Recently, there are major problems in these
type of devices, one of these problems
arises from time in which we connect the
device into our computer, because sometimes
it cannot process the information, thus it
does not read the stored data; another very
common problem is that it may display the
information in another format, when the
information should always be kept in its
original format.
These errors are the most common ones,
however the bulk of problems with these
devices are mostly independent, since each
one is structured by a different brand and a
different technology.
|
|
as follows, we will discuss the most common
problems found in the
memory sticks, and
then recommend their subsequent solution.
The first problem is that when connecting
the device directly to your
computer, we
receive a sign that says that the memory
lacks of format, as it is shown in My PC. |
|
 |
The solution to this first problem is to use
a program called
HP USb Disk Storage Format
Tool, then install it (it is very light and
will occupy less than 1Mb in your
hard
drive) . |
|
To proceed to run the
program place the appropriate format to the
portable memory. A disadvantage of this
program is that once we have placed the
corresponding format in the memory, all
files that have been stored on the portable
device will be automatically erased from its
memory. If you want to use the program, you
can download it directly from the following
link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/10434097/HPUSbFW_por_team_CW..rar.
another problem is that the device wear out,
which is often damaged in the slot and pin
connections. One solution avoid it from
wearing out, is to use small wires and then
solder them internally in the memory and
proceed with further connection to the
computer. To weld the internal
flash memory
device, we should carefully open up the
lateral layers, as any internal damage can
be detrimental to all information that is
stored in it.
|
|
also, another very common problem is for
portable memories to fall in sea water,
which is very harmful because part of the
internal structure of the
flash memory is
damaged and if it does not follow a prior
process for the connection, a short circuit
can occur in the internal memory, because
the salt is a good electricity conductor.
The first thing to do in this case, will be
to leave the memory in a fresh place until
it is completely dry, then proceed to soak
it in fresh water for a period of one hour,
in order to remove traces of salts that have
been left on the device, after this process,
you can begin to remove the outer layers of
the device to soak the inside. Finally leave
it lying on top of an absorbent paper to dry
entirety, by performing this process; we
will be preventing the device to suffer an
internal short circuit.
Finally, we recommend installing the
drivers
for the portable device. There are several
drivers which vary depending on the company
that develops the device. In the following
pages you will find the latest drivers
currently used:
